Cinegy Air PRO


Cinegy Air PRO is the logical next step in the evolution of broadcast automation and video servers. Gone are the monolithic black boxes, replaced by TCP/IP network-attached real-time service appliances. Cinegy Air PRO provides a broadcast automation front-end and a real-time video server for SD, HD and/or Ultra HD (4K) playout, in an integrated software suite. Designed to meet the most demanding requirements, Cinegy Air PRO effortlessly succeeds where so many others fail. Cinegy Air PRO can be used to control multiple channels playing to air or to plan schedules, program and commercial blocks offline. Multiple remote or local users can control the schedule and playout operation. Cinegy Air PRO offers unparalleled flexibility by playing mixed format and mixed resolution content, as well as un-rendered edit sequences straight to air. Insert a logo or overlay from the same central automation panel, and control external devices with powerful, configurable secondary events. Flexible and Scalable

Cinegy Air PRO provides a software-based system for SD, HD and/or Ultra HD (4K) playout automation using standard IT server hardware and certified SDI video cards. It performs video layout by acting as a TCP/IP-connected video “printer” offering its services in a network. The Cinegy Air PRO broadcast automation software connects to the playout service and instructs it what to “print” to air and when.

The Cinegy Air PRO product consists of two elements: a control panel and a playout engine. Cinegy Air PRO control panel provides a state-of-the-art interface for controlling one or more playout channels connected via TCP/IP. Cinegy Air PRO playout engine executes the playlist provided to it and renders video and audio to air. It also sends real-time video stream feedback to the control panel interface, eliminating the need for video monitors as well as SDI cabling and routing.


Cinegy Air PRO supports multi-channel playout, including simultaneous playout of several playout channels which can be controlled by a single Cinegy Air PRO control application. Multiple instances of Cinegy Air PRO playout can run on one powerful machine transforming it into a playout server broadcasting multiple independent channels. Cinegy Air PRO playout channels can also be set up to stream programs live without requiring additional hardware or software.


Cinegy Air PRO can be easily turned into a cart wall / trick mode playout for news, sports, reality show and other live operations. A/B roll, chain, slow-motion, loop and bounce playback is all supported and can be controlled with the Cinegy Studio PRO software control panel, via RS-422 compatible devices using 9-pin protocol or even GPI triggers. In a live news production environment, Cinegy Studio PRO can be connected to a Cinegy Archive integrated newsroom solution and used to control up to 4 independent playout engines along with Cinegy Type graphics and Cinegy Prompter teleprompting software. Cinegy Studio PRO can be integrated into a 3rd party MOS-based newsroom solution such as ENPS, Avid iNews, Octopus or Annova Systems, so it will automatically download the rundowns via the Cinegy MOS Gateway tool.

High Availability

Cinegy Air PRO upholds a high level of fault-tolerance and high-availability, while providing all the advantages of centralized storage. Playlists for individual channels are stored locally in the corresponding playout server in XML format while a background service is caching and conforming the video material on the playlist. Cinegy Air PRO playout engine only plays media direct and uncached from the central storage when it is added in a few seconds before going to air. For each Cinegy Air PRO channel one or more slave channels can be defined, all of which will play frame accurately the same media as the master, ensuring reliable failover if ever needed.

Cloud Compatible

Cinegy Air PRO can run in a VMWARE ESX, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer virtual environment (VM) and is available on Amazon Web Services Marketplace and Microsoft Azure as well. Running Cinegy Air PRO playout in a VM has many advantages including better hardware utilization, instant deployment of additional channels, much easier migration and inexpensive high-availability clustering. As SDI cards cannot be virtualized but may still be needed and where they cannot be replaced by RTP or UDP streams via IP, the SDI I/O is done via Cinegy Encode, which performs RTP to SDI conversion and vice versa.

Traffic and MAM Integration

Cinegy Air PRO can work completely stand-alone or in concert with media asset management, archiving and traffic solutions. Cinegy’s MAM solution, Cinegy Archive can be fully integrated with Cinegy Air PRO, as well as a number of leading 3rd party traffic solutions. Media, metadata, placeholders and graphics elements will seamlessly migrate into the Cinegy Air PRO playout schedule from Cinegy Archive or a 3rd party traffic system.

Cinegy Prompter


Cinegy Prompter automatically receives text blocks marked as Anchor and allows you to play them with predefined speed. Either the operator or the presenter can adjust the speed with a jog-shuttle, pedal or keyboard. The text block can be previewed or even edited any time before it has been started. Video output can be mirrored vertically, horizontally or even switched to right-to-left mode if required. Font type, size and color can be changed according to your anchor’s preference.

Cinegy Prompter is highly integrated with the Cinegy Archive newsroom solution and automatically receives all the updates from the database once the changes are made in Cinegy Desktop. Cinegy Prompter can play the story not only on the locally connected display, but also distribute it across entire production network via MPEG-TS streaming output – which makes it probably a unique solution on the market.

Cinegy Type


Cinegy Type allows the addition of multiple layers of automation controlled, template based titles, logos, animated graphics, and more. From simple ticker tapes and lower thirds to multi-layer character animations, Cinegy Type includes a whole range of advanced effects and features. This module addresses simple requirements such as logo insertion right through to complex branding with templated information and animated video plates.

With broadcast automation controlled scheduled playout, sequences are often changed or modified right up to the last minute, or even during playout. With Cinegy Type you can make changes on the fly. Simply turn items off (pure pass thru), turn parts on/off (e.g. logo), or invoke certain templates, plates or other titles manually independent of the automation schedule.

Use the Cinegy Type editor to build complex visual scenes, harnessing the full power of the Cinegy Type engine. Allow users to alter specified elements in a pre-created template using the simple and intuitive template viewer – letting production staff easily utilize the work of the graphical design team.

The Cinegy Type template builder and title designer allows you to build creative templates offline with all the effects and features required to make professional templates quickly and easily:

  • Add basic effects to text, such as a shadow, border, glow or bevel, change the color and transparency.
  • Control the way text appears, change the position, rotation, color or size or add effects such as typewriter, flash, alpha.
  • Add stationary, crawling or rolling text, with either static or templated content.

Cloud Playout


Cinegy’s core principle, software defined television, states that using standard IT equipment for originating and broadcasting content allows for stability, flexibility and responsiveness. What Cinegy products are being deployed on AWS or Microsoft Azure?

It is currently possible to purchase from the Amazon Web Services marketplace a pre-built machine image which contains version 10 or version 11 of Cinegy’s Air PRO bundle or a Cinegy Air PRO and Cinegy Multiviewer bundle. From Microsoft Azure it is possible to purchase a Cinegy Air PRO and Cinegy Multiviewer bundle.

Cinegy Air PRO is a real-time playout server and broadcast automation software for SD and HD playout, it delivers Dolby Digital encoding, EAS, Nielsen watermarking and Cinegy Type channel branding as one integrated software solution. You can mix different codecs, resolutions and aspect ratios in one playlist.

Any of Cinegy’s products can be licensed to run in AWS allowing experimentation and testing of new workflows for customers.

Cinegy Multiviewer enables broadcasters and production houses to monitor streams from sources locally and remotely. Featuring a robust analysis and alert system, detecting signal problems as they occur, Cinegy Multiviewer receives RTP/UDP streams via Ethernet. It supports SD, HD or UHD/4K sources, handles multiple MPEG-TS IP streams, as well as alarms via e-mail, SMS or HTTP. Its screen layout can be streamed to MPEG-TS.

Explain to me the different Cinegy cloud offerings

Our Cinegy Air PRO bundle is currently available through the AWS and Azure Marketplaces for deployment on GPU based instances. The current cost of the bundle is $3.00 per hour for the standard recommended instance size in addition to any cloud infrastructure fees which increases to $6.00 and then $12.00 per hour for the larger instance sizes to reflect their increase capabilities.

For this price the virtual machine image includes our standard Cinegy AIR Pro bundle, Cinegy Multiviewer and Cinegy Player PRO software and comes with email support for the Cinegy software on a next working day basis. We also support the Bring Your Own License (BYOL) model for new and existing customers who wish to transition any of their current capacity to the cloud. Can I store my media (database) in the cloud?

Yes, you can store your media (database) in either AWS or Azure. You can use the platforms compute service to create a Windows based instance which includes Microsoft SQL and deploy Cinegy Archive onto this instance in the standard way. Storage can be added to this deployed instance for your essence, or can deploy a second instance which would act as the file server. The licenses required for the connections/software to run on the cloud would need to be obtained from Cinegy. Please contact your sales person for more information.

Cinegy’s OPS PACK makes even large environments easy to manage and monitor – as well as to analyze where problems and bottlenecks may hide using proper big data tools.

The OPS PACK handles IP and SDI signals, making it ideal for hybrid environments and the migration to IP. The Cinegy Multiviewer displays and analyzes all signals and raises alerts for any detected problems. The integrated Cinegy Route manages and routes IP signals.
